Present: J. Forgay, A. Fullerton (chair), W. Macpherson (recorder),
E. Murphy, A. Naese, C. Shuttleworth, M. Watkins.
1. New members were welcomed, and all members indicated their areas
of interest, aand strength.
2. Members with skills in HTML include A. Naese and L. Hastings. E.
Murphy and J. Forgay know some HTML. Matt Oliver, who works afternoons
this term in the Davis Library Office, also knows HTML.
3. A. Fullerton reviewed the mandate oof the committee. Others added
comments.
4. Now that scheduled fall programs are over, A. Naese will send the
activity statistics she has collected to M. Oliver who will collate them.
Attendance at tours may be down compared with last year. Library staff
are not very willing to give tours, and we wonder whether peer tour guides
would be more successful, as happens, in fact, at UMD.
J. Forgay will enquire of the Student Ambassadors group, and A.
Fullerton will be in touch with P. Charbonneau, the UW Orientation
Coordinator, about peer guides.
5. At our next meeting, we will braiinstorm on what programs are most
likely too be popular in the winter term.
6. On November 18, from 1:30 - 3:30, the Accessibility Centre in
Porter will have an Open House to show new adaptive equipment. All are
welcome.
7. The form for Usser Education statistics needs development,
particularly so that informatioon contained on the forms submitted by
program presenters can be transferred directly into an Excel file. It
would be good to have this by January 1, it is essential to have this by
May 1, 1999.
The inventory of categories of prograams on the form also needs
review and updating. J. Forgay and C. Shuttleworth will look at this.
We may find it useful to develop a FAQ section.
8. A REMINDER TO EVERYONE - Program information statistics need to be
submitted on the StaffWeb form. Check that all in your departments are
doing this. No other report replaced this official recording.
We are happy to receive feedback on the form. It was noted that
program preseenters do not get an acknowledgement that their report of
statistics was received.
9. To prepare for next meeting, at whiich we will map out the Winter,
1999 program, E. Murphy will prepare a rough draft and circulate it to
committee members.
A REMINDER TO EVERYONE - ask in your department what programs people want
to see given, and what programs people want to give.
10. NEXT MEETING - Friday, November 20 at 9:15 - 10:45.
Agenda will include mapping out the winter program and looking at
statistics from the fall. Also, members will be named as the contact
people for various campus events.
11. UPCOMING - The Annual Report will be presented to all Liaison
Librarians in a meeting in Davis Conference Room on December 1.
12. STILL TO WORK ON - The "wings" for the public terminals need to be
updated, although this is really a TUG project. Do users need a "tip"
sheet for the reserves module on Floor 1 of Porter? E. Murphy will
consult with M. Watkins.
