Minutes

Present: Jane Forgay, Wendy Macpherson, Ann Naese, Connie Shuttleworth,
Melanie Watkins; and later, Linda Hastings, Erin Murphy.

1. In Anne Fullerton's absence, Jane Forgay chaired the meeting. Wendy
Macpherson recorded.

2. WINTER PROGRAM
Information for Graduate Students - yes, same as last year
Getting the most out of electronic databases - yes, 4 in January, 2 in
March, split between Davis and Porter
Using the Web for Research - uncertain
SwetScan - CONNIE will ask Faye
TRELLIS sessions - 3 demos at Davis, 3 hands on at Porter, in January

LINDA Hastings will use these details to draft a flyer.

No general tours or scheduled sessions for disabled students are planned.

WENDY will find people to do the Davis TRELLIS demos.
JANE will find people top to sessions on Finding Journal articles and
Citations Fast (ERL) in hands-on sessions at Porter.
ANNE will discuss doing a Finding Journal articles and Citation Fast
(CSA) in Davis, with Davis selectors. This would be in early February.

3. We developed an idea to have "thought bubbles" above each terminal,
giving information about finding items on reserves. Linda will work on
this, and Melanie will assist with the text.

4. We named as coordinators of the Library/User Ed part of Campus Day
(March '99) - Melanie and Connie, and for Student Life 101 (August'99) -
Ann Naese. Anne Fullerton will be making the preliminary contacts for
Orientation '99.

5. Yulerette Gordon has already done some work on a web-page for
undergraduate student much like that pages for graduate students and
faculty. Erin will carry this forward, and will be in touch with
Yulerette and Matt Oliver. The goal is to have this ready early in the
winter term.

6. Jane Forgay is working on adapting the Help Pages for WebVoyager models
used at University of Pennsylvania for Waterloo.

7. We need to provide clear information about the purpose and use of the
TUGdoc and Request buttons, whether on the Kiosks, on Wings or on Bubbles
at the terminals.
Linda will talk with Anne and Jane, and will start working on wings.

8. At our next meeting, Linda Hastings will bring copies of the "Flow
through the Library" flyer from the late 70's. Jane Forgay will bring some
WLU material.

9.Two items on the agenda (a web-site for user-ed, and current awareness
for librarians) were deferred. We ask Anne Fullerton to send out the
URL's for the user-ed websites at University of Washington and Queen's

10. Jane will ask Marina Wan to add an e-mail source line on the user-ed
feedback forms.
WE ALL AGREE to ask in our departments what changes are wanted in the
feedback/reporting forms.

11. the next meeting will be held Friday, December 4, at 9:15 in Porter.
