Present: Jane Forgay, Anne Fullerton (Chair), Erin Murphy, Connie Shuttleworth (Recorder), Melanie Watkins

FALL ORIENTATION:

1- Directional maps to Guelph and Laurier have been complete.

Action: Melanie will ask Linda to make 1000 copies on white paper.

2- Fall Workshop Brochure- correction and time adjustments were made.

Action: Jane will forward revised brochure to Linda for proofing and
printing

3- Mini Guide (Porter) - on hold till construction changes are near
completion.

4- Library hours (Fall and Winter Term & other Useful Information) - small
fold up orange handout. On hold till later date when hours etc are
confirmed by User Services.

Action: Melanie will inquire if User Services
would be responsible for updating this handout
and producing a similar summer version.

5- User Education - Paper and Electronic publications - who is responsible
for updates and changes to these publications.

Action: Anne will talk to Esther and Rose about the feasibility of
producing an Excel chart that would list all User
Education publications/when they were last reviewed/
when they should be reviewed and updated
if necessary.

STAFFING FALL TOURS:

1- Fall Library Tours - Porter and Davis -

Action: Anne and Melanie - recruit staff to give library tours
- streamline Tour Guide notes to allow for
shorter tours
- walk through with tour guides
before fall tours

2- Student Services Tours - 15 minute stopover outside the Library

Davis - Sept 9 1:30 - 3:00
3:00 - 4:30
Sept 10 10:30 - 12:00

Action: Anne will recruit staff for Davis tours

Porter -Sept 10 9:00 - 10:30
1:30 - 3:00

Action: Connie will recruit staff for Porter tours

WEB VERSION OF FALL BROCHURE:

1. Web Version of the fall brochure (Library Orientation Fall 1999)will
be scanned and linked to the Library Web Page. A calendar as well as a
list of workshops by date will be included.

Action: Anne will ask Rose to add to the UW Library website.

2. To generate some new ideas on how we can better display our
brochure and workshops on the Web each committee member
was asked to look at Library instruction at different Website and comment
on two that they liked.

Action: Anne will ask Rose to compile the list of URL's and
comments which will be discussed
at the next meeting August 5.

SIGNAGE:

1. Trellis Express - workstations need brighter signs

Action: Anne will ask Linda to make bright green "Trellis Only"
signs for Davis and Porter designated terminals

STUDENT MESSAGE BOARD:

l.Student message boards have arrived in Davis and Porter. There was
discussion on the size and location of the message board for Porter.

Action: Jane will send a message to Library Council, CNAG,
Margaret Hendley and Susan Routliffe outlining concerns
and offering suggestions and alternatives to the cylinder
cork board purchased for Porter.

98.1 UPGRADE:

1. Impact on users was discussed. There will be a read-only version of the
catalogue. Trellis "help" is problematic but it will need to wait till
Bill Oldfield returns.

Action: Anne will write a proposal to the TUG opac group to
discuss the removal of the OPAC Windows version from
public use. Users would then only
need to work with one interface. The Windows
version could be retained for staff use.
