Present: Margaret Aquan-Yuen (chair), Connie Shuttleworth, Astra Goodhue, Jackie Stapleton, Maureen McCormack (recorder), Janet Wason, Erin Murphy, Melanie Watkins
1. Minutes of the meeting of September 7th, 2000 were approved with corrections.
2. Business arising:
The link from the Student Life 101 E-zine will be to the undergraduate page.
Erin will send some examples of articles written for this type of publication to the committee for some inspiration for future submissions.
3. Feedback from Fall Program.
It was felt that the time allocated to the “Find articles fast” sessions needs to be extended. There was difficulty covering all of the topics.
It would be useful to ask, on the evaluation form, where attendees had heard of the workshops, and also to promote other workshops at the beginning of each library instruction session.
The committee members felt that the availability to use a Classnet in the Flexlab would have been an advantage.
The tours at UMD were not well attended and the statistics for the Trelllis tours appear to suggest that the timing and frequency of the tours should be looked at for the future.
4. Kiosk display.
A blow-up of the undergraduate page will be mounted on the kiosk.
5. Licensed databases.
Margaret and Jackie will contact systems for clarification on how we go about opening up licenses for training/workshops. Procedures will be put in place and noted on the Library Instruction page.
6. Winter library instruction.
Plans for winter library instruction will depend on the extent of the changes on the new version of OPAC interface and also on the success of Roving Reference. Winter instruction will be arranged after more is known.
7. Appreciation Coffee break LIC.
The appreciation coffee break will take place the first week of November.
