Minutes

  1. Approval of November 6th Minutes

    Some corrections noted. After clarification minutes of November 6th were approved.

  2. Business Arising

    (i) Discussion about the LINC coffee break. All agreed it was successful. Margaret thanked Lenka for her efforts regarding the coffee break.

  3. Additional Agenda

    No additional agenda.

  4. LINC Staff Web

    Sam presented an organizational design for the new LINC web page. Until now the LINC web pages have only been accessible to library staff at their terminals. Recently it has been decided that some of the material on the Library Staff Web should be made public. As a result, each committee must reassess their web sites and decide which pages can be made public.

  6. Library Tours

    • it was suggested that "local" students would like a library tour offered prior to official term start.
    • it was suggested that more interaction during library tours would be beneficial.

  7. Thoughts and ideas about library instruction

    • virtual library tour needs to be revisited/completed
    • LINC will prepare the text for Linda Hastings.
    • Janet suggested that maybe a course directed workshops for courses like Pych 101 could be included at the appropriate time in the term. This would be in response to the numbers of students coming to the desk and needing help finding articles for a term paper.
    • a discussion took place about the value of reaching out to professors and integrating course needs into workshops.
