  1. Approval of April 2nd Minutes

Minutes of April 2nd were approved.

  2. Business Arising

As acting Chair Dan S. welcomes Helena and Marian to the LINC committee.

#6. Library Tour on the Web
Linda H. and Paul S. have this up and running now.

    #7. Sessions for the fall
Sessions have been booked and details can be found at
    http://library/staff/linc/private/2002workshops.html
Resulting from a discussion between Dan S. and Doug M. it was decided that to attempt to make the "Smart Searching Techniques" workshop 'hands on' would result in overlapping with other sessions.
Dan S., Paul S. and Jackie S. will design and deliver the Graduate Student Sessions on 5 dates between Sept. 6 and 13.

  3. Additional Agenda

Linda suggests a floor-by-floor map for Porter that would sit near the information desk. She says she will "rough one out" and bring it to the next meeting.

  4. Poster for Fall 2002—Linda Hastings

Linda requested and received permission from Nestle for the use of Smarties as a trademarked item. Linda has finished the bookmark and the brochure is started. The group looked at a copy of what the poster would look like and we discussed variations. Linda was concerned about how the image would look in black and white. Linda is also looking for a better image of the graphic to enhance the look.

  5. Display Case in Porter near Elevator—Marian D.

Marian informed us that she has accepted responsibility for the display beside the elevators in Porter.

  6. Fall Schedule

    Library Tours (1999 data)
Discussion continues about the timing of the Library Tours. The attendance numbers from 1999, when tours were offered later in September, do not reflect a need for tours to be offered that late. Marian suggests that maybe evenings or weekends would be a popular choice for Library Tours.

    Decision: Library tours will run on the following schedule for the fall of 2002;
    Sept. 9-13 10:30, 11:30 and 2:30
    Sept. 16-19 10:30, 11:30 and 1:30
Sept. 9th and 11th 6:30pm (unless Helena comes back with information that Monday and Wednesday are not the days when most classes run at night).

Actions: Helena will find the times and days of the week when most classes are offered at night.

    Information for Grad Students
Dan spoke with Jim and Anne. Paul, Jackie and Dan will redesign and offer the session. Anne has offered to sit in on a test run of a hands-on version of the session. Jim P. will act as a back up for the sessions.

    Keeping up with your Research
Dan will speak with the designers and we can discuss at the next meeting.

  7. Around the table.
