Business Arising from previous minutes
#7 International Student Office contacted Janet inquiring whether the Library provided Spring term tours. Explaining that the Library does not offer tours in the spring, Janet provided the International Student Office with library guides and URLs.
The committee provided Joan with comments and suggestions on LINC’s International Students web page. Joan has agreed to remove all of the visible links and instead will imbed them into related text. Considerations were also made for wording, layout, and graphics. Some of the pages require further descriptions.
Action: Committee members have agreed to look at the URL’s and provide Joan with some more feedback. Joan will forward LINC the International Students URL.
LINC examined the list of outreach activities that Mary Stanley compiled. Dates for some of the activities still need to be set. In September and again in January, Janet will offer “Campus Research Solutions” for students registered with the Office for Students with Disabilities. The Gradutate Student Orientation will include 3-4 workshops in the Libraries, as well as displays set up in the grad house.
Action: Linda will confirm contacts, dates and details. The list will be made available on LINC’s webpage. Judy McTaggart, will be contacted for dates for the Distance Education Open House, as well as for the Mature Students Orientation.
Scheduling Fall workshops – Helena
Helena provided the committee with a draft email to ISR regarding Fall 2004 workshops. The email included a list of last fall’s workshops and instructors. The committee recommended adding the number of attendees and session times. The committee considered keeping the same instructors as last year.
Action: Helena will send the email out and ask for workshop recommendations prior to the next ISR meeting.
Membership – Helena
With several members leaving LINC, the committee is now operating understaffed with under representation from the Davis Centre Library. Past recruitments attempts from the Davis Centre Library have been unsuccessful. Helena brought these concerns to Susan Routliffe who suggested to do our best and to continue what we’re doing until the new management structure takes place. The LINC’s current structure will remain in place for another year, under the current chair. On a brighter note, however, LINC is delighted to welcome their newest member, Sandra Keys.
