  1. Minutes of Previous Meeting
The minutes of the meeting of August 1st were approved with corrections

  2. Special Guest, Christy Branston : Gaming & Instruction
Christy was invited to demonstrate the ‘interactive fiction game’ she’s been working on. Christy explained how users learn and acquire information while playing games. She would like to see this theory applied to UW students by offering them a text-based game that virtually explores the Dana Porter Library, its staff and services. Christy would like LINC to support her effort and is interested in having the free software that is required to run the game, ‘ADRIFT Runner’ installed on the public machines. LINC had a concern with the effort involved in the installation process and suggested that the game be tested and evaluated by students first. LINC would also like to see the game developed further and has suggested hiring a work study student with gaming skills to assist Christy.
Action: LINC will hire a work student to assist Christy in the development of a virtual library game.
