- Minutes from previous meeting (June 5, 2007)
- The minutes were approved with minor revisions.
- Approved minutes should be sent to Rose for mounting on LINC website.
- Business Arising
- LINC Wiki
- Members are unclear as to how to use the Wiki to facilitate a discussion. Unless you are going into the Wiki regularly, it doesn’t work. There is no notification when something has been posted.
- If anyone has an recommendations how to use the Wiki, they are asked to forward them to the group.
- LINC Blog

- Should we pursue the blog? Unless there is buy-in, do we want to continue?
- Eva has created a Map Library & GIS Librarian site. It took a long time to set up and is not being responded too.
- ACRL blog has a number of people posting. Its purpose was to get people interested in literacy.
- Original purpose was to discuss articles online..
- If we could perhaps identify a few interesting links and also to put out a call to all staff as to what they might want to see on a LINC blog site.
- New Faculty Orientation
- Richard/Sandra/Anne did not create a handout for librarians.
- Librarians are not involved with the university faculty orientation so how do librarians get in touch with new faculty?
- A handout could be given out at circulation desk when they register.,
- Leanne has a brochure she created for training T.A.’s called “Expectations”
- Update/Report Items
- Review of the Fall instruction schedule (Sandra)
- All sessions are covered!
- Some students have already registered.
- The schedule will be on the web where any changes will be reflected.
- Instructors will also be able to email participants.
- Map Library’s Collection Exhibit (Eva)
- September 10-14, UML is holding an exhibition of their collection, promoting paper maps with historical maps as the focus and UW’s 50th and City of Waterloo’s 150th Anniversaries.
- It will be a self-guided tour; give-aways include pencils, Smarties, maps, etc.
- Participants are invited to map their house and their neighbourhood as a way to introduce maps in a fun way.
- This is Geospatial Literacy Month. 25 workshops are being offered.
- Demo of the registration system
- There were computer problems so this item was deferred.
- Decision Items
- Sandra will ensure that Esther has blurbs throughout the term for Current News
- Evaluation form review/overhaul (see attached)
- Anne reviewd the evaluation form. She will edit the form to reflect LINC’s recommendation and send out a draft to the liaison librarians.

- A discussion of what are the evolving needs.
- Information Literacy – the push is on more grad students
- Course basted masters as opposed to research based.

- Anne will have Luvnet followup from where Richard left off.
- The discussion was deferred to allow Luvnet time to review the pages and bring back her impressions.
- Around the Table
- Richard said his farewells last week and commented that he had learned much from his work on the literacy page.
- Laurie reported that Frosh Week is just around the corner. The Workshops are emphasized and the brochure is given out to the groups who come on the tours.
- Anne is designing a new food/drink poster for Davis. She is working with Esther.
