The Committee reports to the Head, Information Services and Resources, Davis Centre Library.
The Committee designs, promotes, co-ordinates delivery, and evaluates general i.e., non-discipline specific, library instructional services to develop the information literacy skills of UW students, faculty, and staff. These services supplement the discipline-specific instruction delivered by liaison librarians.
The Committee works with other units/committees or groups on the development and delivery of library instructions. The Committee consults with staff involved in library communications to ensure the consistency of publications and the coordination of the promotional aspects of instructional activities.
The Committee:
The Committee consists of 2 librarians each from Porter and Davis ISR, 2 library associates from ISR, the Communications and Outreach Librarian, and up to 3 members from other units in the Library. Each Committee member has a 2-year term, with the exception of the chair who has a 3-year term. A librarian chairs the committee. Changeover in membership normally occurs in May to facilitate the development of the fall program.
Most Committee expenditures are for publications that are charged to the publications budget. Proposals to fund expenses outside of publication production costs are submitted to the Assistant University Librarian Information Services as needed.
