2. Business Arising from April 18
There was no business arising.3. Interim Report of the Ad Hoc Signage Group
The Porter wayfinding signage group worked with d3 Impact Signage Consultants to look at the Library’s non-wayfinding signage. Out of that, it was agreed that a project group would be formed to make recommendations on standards and templates to improve the Library’s non-wayfinding signage. Alex gave an update on the group’s work and nine recommendations.Key points:
• Create various signage templates for similar groups of signs to provide consistent messaging, branding, orientation, size, and fixture.
• Create a Design Guide that will provide standards/best practices regarding font, graphics, branding, orientation, size, and messaging.
• Create a digital Sign Directory for all signs that are library managed, to ensure consistency, clarity and avoid redundancy.
• Every sign will have a very specific mounting method and either be posted within a designated fixture or on a display board.
• Signage can be reduced from its current state. There are opportunities within groups of signs to streamline information.A Standing Committee will be responsible for approval of new signs, decisions on which signs can be exceptions to the use of a template, and decisions on which signs can be posted outside approved fixtures.

4. Mid Cycle Review Update
The President’s Mid Cycle Review (MCR) has developed eight goals (three strategic, five enabling) - the three strategic goals being:
• Advancing research excellence and impact
• Enhance student opportunities and experience
• Advancing quality of educationTwo of them (advancing research excellence and impact, and enhancing student opportunities and experience) line up with work that two of the Library Review Working groups have been focussing on.
Three 6 ½ hour MCR action planning sessions, one for each strategic goal, have been scheduled. Mark, Pascal, and Susan will each attend one. Provost Sallie Keller has taken over responsibility for the MCR and will be actively engaged in the sessions. LibExec and Nancy are preparing a summary for her about the work that the Library has been doing. http://uwaterloo.ca/mid-cycle-review/home

Relais Express: a Relais Express virtual server and one Relais Express workstation have been set up, and we are now able to share a Relais patron database within TUG that allows each to send links directly to patrons of other institutions. There have been ongoing conversations within TUG about how cumbersome the system is, and they are now investigating a product called Relais Express Plus. It is hoped that it could go live by the end of August.Ares: the upgrade has been postponed. Chris Gray has been working with Atlas to upgrade our virtual server to prepare it for the upgrade to version 4. Steve Weber has also been testing functionality that could provide better integration with D2L that we had with Angel. If testing with Ares 4 goes well, we will upgrade to Ares 4 in late July. Depending on the results of Steve’s testing, the upgrade might not necessarily include the D2L piece.
DC IST Helpdesk: Alex, Jennifer, Sam Gibbon, Bob Hicks and others from IST had a progress meeting in late March to review progress of the pilot. While the number of technical questions has increased to approx. 40%, IST staff are still underutilized. In spite of this it was agreed that the pilot should continue until April 2013 to give it a chance. More aggressive advertising of the service is being planned.

A pilot is underway to review material that was sent to Annex.Congress desk: Judy McTaggart was instrumental for scheduling and getting staff trained on the Porter desk. The additional staffing during Congress went without a hitch.
