1. Business Arising
A reminder that the United Way campaign is underway, with a lot of opportunities to give.

2. Skype for Business phones
Following up on a discussion from a Managers meeting in May, Adam reviewed the features of Skype for Business phones, and updated Managers on IST’s new policy that all staff will have a phone (not including casual employees/undergrad students). Skype for Business phones have the full capabilities of an analog phone line (call forwarding, transferring, call parking, conference calls, etc.) with the additional capability of being able to do a WebEx style meeting. Skype for Business phones can be used with either a high-quality headset provided by IST, or a handset.

Library IT staff will be switching over within the next week, and headsets have been ordered for Managers to test it next. LTFS plans on implementing this to staff affected by the renovations first (on the 5th and 3rd floor of Porter), and will work on a timeline to remaining staff following the reno. Staff will be given the option of using a headset or handset, and there will be training provided.

3. AUL Recruitment update
An email has been sent out to staff announcing opportunities to provide input on the Associate University Librarian positions, as we prepare for recruitment in late 2017. Staff are encouraged to participate in any of the small group meetings or provide feedback through the online form.

4. MAP3 Retreat and Proposals update
Pree provided a brief overview of the upcoming MAP3 retreat’s structure, and reviewed how the prioritization and analysis process will work. All proposals have been uploaded to SharePoint for review, Melanie has informed all the volunteers who will be attending to hold the dates, and Sharon has started creating the groups. Those who will be presenting lightning talks for proposals should be sending their slides to Pree in advance of the retreat.

5. Around the Table
Nick:
Encourage everyone to come and see Special Collections & Archives’ new exhibit: Our favourite things.

Alison:
There will be a brief OCUL CF update at the Library Update Meeting on October 23. We have received feedback from all participating schools (except one) on the requirements. Alison is corralling the discovery section and the cataloguing and metadata section. We should be at the draft state by end of next week.

Open Access Week is October 23 – 29, with Open Access day on the 25. Lauren sent an email to the LibrariansPlus group about the events being held that week, and Managers are encouraged to forward the email to other staff.

Nick, Sharon and Alison will be attending AUL day next week, and Alison will be doing a lightning talk with Gord Bertrand from Laurier. Sharon and Alison will be touring the Downsview offsite storage on Monday.

Betty:
There have been concerns from staff about the work environment during the reno. Adam will send a communication to staff assuring them that the 5th floor has been sealed off. Now that the reno is underway, updates will be sent out weekly with a link to the blog.

Next meeting: October 25, 2017
