Introduction

This is the fourth revision of the Staff Manual which was first published in 1987. It is written and maintained in order to:

Introduce staff members to the Library, providing information about its history, organization, goals, and objectives
Summarize the most regularly consulted human resources policies with reference to the appropriate and authoritative UW policies and procedures which are found on the web (http://www.adm.uwaterloo.ca/infosec/)
Provide samples of forms
Provide a brief introduction to other pertinent library documents.

I encourage all staff to become familiar with the Staff Manual which is now readily accessible on the Library Staff Web (http://www.lib.uwaterloo.ca/staff/).

I would like to thank the Library’s Infrastructure Group for the care and attention they have taken in preparing the current revision.
