[Papyrus is the NT server also known as BYBLOS_NT that you logon to when you start up or reboot your computer. It provides access to the library staff subnet for networked printing, dropboxes, shared network drives, etc.]
At Windows 98 workstations
- Logon to the network
- Click on the “Start” button
- Click on “Settings”, then on “Control Panel”
- Double click the “Passwords” icon
- Click on “Change Other Passwords”
- Click on “Microsoft Networking”
- Click on “Change”
- Enter your old password
- Enter your new password in both the “New” and “Confirm” boxes
- Click on “OK”
At Windows XP workstations
- Logon to the network
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete
- Click on the “Change Password” button
- Enter your current password in the “Old Password” box
- Enter your new password in the “New Password” and “Confirm New Password” boxes
- Click on “OK”
[Library is the UNIX server you logon to when you use Pine email, connect to your email from home or via the MyWaterloo web page, post html files to your Library web space, etc.]
- Open a telnet session to: library.uwaterloo.ca and logon
- At the UNIX prompt, enter "password" & press the “enter/return” key
- When prompted, enter your old password, your new password, and then confirm the change by entering your new password again
- At the UNIX prompt, enter “logout” to end your telnet session
Note: the UNIX prompt is that number in square brackets followed by a % symbol that appears at the left-hand marginYou must also change the password stored on Outlook for receipt of incoming mail. You will not receive new mail until you complete this step.
If you are using Office 2000, your procedure is:
- From the “Tools” dropdown menu, select “E-mail accounts”
- Select “E-mail/View or change existing email accounts”, click on “Next”
- Select “Library”, then click on “Change”
- Under “Logon information / Password”, enter your new password
- Click on “Next”
- Click on “Finish”
- From the “Tools” dropdown menu, select “Accounts”
- Select the “Mail” tab
- Select “Library”, then click on the “Properties” button
- A“Library Properties” window will open
- Click on the “Servers” tab
- Under “Incoming mail Server / Password”, enter your new password
- Click on “OK
[This is the password used if you have password-protected your personal Outlook folders.]
- Open Outlook
- Right-click on the “Personal Folders” icon
- Click on “Properties for ‘Personal Folders’” (might display as “Properties for ‘Outlook Today’”)
- A“Personal Folders Properties” window will open
- Click on the “Advanced” button (located near the bottom right hand side of the window)
- Click on “Change Password”
- Enter your old password, new password (twice)
- Ensure that the “save this password in your password list” box is NOT ticked
- Click on “OK”
[This is the password used for myHRinfo, Quest, campus electronic voting, etc.]
- Go to the UWdir Password Change page https://ego.uwaterloo.ca/~uwdir/
Passwd.html- Enter your User id, Old password, New password (twice) and click on "Submit"
Note: if the above link to the password change page doesn’t work, simply copy and paste the url into the ‘address line’ in your browser.
[This is the password used if you run Cognos/Impromptu reports or access PowerPlay statistical data via the web.]
- Logon to http://tugrprts.lib.uwaterloo.ca/cognos/ [production server] and/or http://reports.lib.uwaterloo.ca/cognos/ [test server]
- Click on “Personalize”
- Click on the “User” tab
- Click on “Change logon password”
- Enter your current password, new password (twice) and click on “OK”
[This is the password used to logon to the Voyager Acquisitions, Cataloguing, Circulation, Reporter and SysAdmin modules.]

Note: Since the Voyager software does not yet support the strict confidentiality maintained for other passwords, we recommend that your TRELLIS password be different from the one you use on the other Library and UW systems listed above.
