The group, with Chair Doug Morton, began meeting in mid May, 2002. First, the members used the Terms of Reference draft from ISMC to help identify specific action tasks. The group members divided the tasks among themselves, as outlined in a list compiled by Doug Morton. See attachment.
The tentative target date (July) and hours of service (1-4 p.m.) were determined early in May.
Virtual Reference Desk Implementation Group web site was created. Accessible via http://library/staff/vrd/
Following the LSSI software training in May, the group took responsibility for:
- assisting the training information services staff with problems and their documentation
- creating a staff web site with links to Techniques and Troubleshooting
- customizing the LSSI interface for UW
- communicating with LSSI vendor as required to report bugs and related technical issues
- Doug Morton reports regularly on the VRIG's progress to ISMC, as appropriate.
- A mailing list of all who will receive news/updates from the VRIG has been identified.
At the meeting of July 17, the group reviewed its activities. (See more detailed notes from C. Steele.)
