Notes from the Meeting of November 11, 2005
Present: Christy Branston (recorder), Doug Morton, Shabiran Rahman, Marina Wan
- It was decided that the committee will change its name to Chat Reference Operating Group (CROG).
- Doug will contact Charles and ask him to change the current alias from libvrig to libcrog.
- Doug will send out a message to current membership to see if they would like to continue as members of the committee.
- Terms of reference will be looked at in a future meeting.
- The committee web site needs updating and this might be a good task for a co-op student to work on.
- Doug will assess the services being offerred at other OCUL libraries - looking at hours of service and software being used.
- The group decided that a testint meeting was necessary for our group to explore what works with Docutek and what does not work. The meeting will be held in the Flex lab at 25th from 10-12. Christy will invite the current chat reference staff to attend the meeting. We will ask them to think about what problems they've encountered, so that we can address specific issues at the meeting.
- Doug will contact Laura, Anne, Jackie, Carol Stephenson, Marian, Carol Steele, Judy, Jon, Janet, Baiba to see if they would be interested in staffing the chat reference service.
- The group discussed the idea of piloting Saturday hours for the chat service.
- The group discussed avenues for promoting the service and the following suggestions were made:
- create a new button
- Doug will look for the bookmarks Linda created
- Door Knob flyer
