Present: Christy Branston (recorder), Doug Morton, Dan Sich, Carol Steele, Marina Wan
1. MSN IM Chat Pilot
Marina will edit the Ask a Librarian page to include the information about the IM chat pilot. The address has been changed to libchat@library. Christy will send out information about the pilot and instruct staff on how to sign in to MSN chat. Dan, Marina and Christy will be available to train staff.
Dan had done some experimenting with Muukal on using a status indcator for the IM chat icon. This is something our group would be interested in developing for the IM chat service, if it becomes fully implemented beyond the pilot phase.
2. Docutek demo & UG
Christy will followup with K. Jane Burpee from UG to see how many of her staff will be attending the March 31st meeting.
At the Docutek demo we will focus on chat issuees; however, if time permits we will raise any email issues. The main issue with chat are the co-browsing problems. We would like to experiment with RACER, Web of Science, CSA, Wilson, and SFX, in particular. For email, two major issues include 1) bounced messages do not appear in the email when an incorrect email address has been typed/or given by the patron, and 2) Font size, and the html form used in the reply message is problematic in terms of accessibility.
3. Chat Statistics
Doug will compile and submit the statistics from 2005 and 2006 and send those to Marina. Marina will forward statistics information to Shabiran.
