Creating Links

  1. Select the text that you want to become a link.
  2. Click on the Link link button button and choose Browse to the page.
  3. Enter the URL of the web page that you want to link to.
  4. Click OK.

Navigational Links

Links should be made within a document to its parent page, e.g., all pages within a committee area should link back to the main page for that committee. Other links that would assist in the navigation of the web site should be made as appropriate, e.g., a discipline page may also link back to their Faculty or Department web page.

Links to TUG Pages

So our users don't feel like they are leaving the UW Library Web site when they go to a joint TUG page, e.g., TUG Lending Policy, a special mechanism has been established that places our UW Library identification at the top of the TUG pages. But in order for this to happen, there is a special URL that must be used. The following format must be used for any links to files in the TUG Web area:

For example the link to the TUG Lending Policy should be given as follows:

Links to TRELLIS

Because traffic to TRELLIS was becoming very heavy, a procedure was put in place to split the volume. If you are linking to TRELLIS from the UW Library Web site, please use the following URL:

"trellis1.tug-libraries.on.ca/"
