Connecting Contribute to Your Personal Site (using Windows 7 & Contribute CS3)

  1. In Contribute Select Edit --> MyConnections from the top menu.

  2. Select the "Create" tab.

  3. Complete using your userid and click on Next>. Contribute Connection Wizard - Choosing a connection

  5. Complete - remember to use your WatIAM userid and password. Then click on Next>. Contribute Connection Wizard - filling in Website Connection Information

  6. Complete your full name and email address and click on Next>.

  7. Select the Administrator role and click on Next>. Contribute Connection Wizard - select Administrator role

  8. Review the summary to see whether you made any errors or typos, then click on Done.Contribute Connection Wizard - Summary

    You can now select your new connection under "Home Pages" from the top menu.

    If you want to change the name of this site, just go to Edit --> My Connections --> Rename.


Connecting Contribute to Your Personal Site (using Windows XP and Contribute MX)

For those of you who would like to know how to use Contirbute to edit your personal site, here are the steps:

  1. In Contribute Select "Edit/MyConnections".
  2. Select the "Create" tab.
  3. Follow the instruction
    1. Use http://www.lib.uwaterloo.ca/~[your user name] as the Web Site Homepage
    2. Say "OK" to the information message.
    3. Select Secure FTP as the connection method and "library.uwaterloo.ca" as the SFTP server.
    4. Use your library account and password (same as email).
    5. If asked remove any existing administrative settings.
    6. Make sure your name and email address is correct.
    7. Click "Done".
  4. Select the newly created web site in the Connection box and click Administer...
    1. Select Dreamweaver style editing.
    2. Under File/Folder Access select "Allo editing only in these folders.
    3. Remove any existing folders and add http://www.lib.uwaterloo.ca/~[your user name]
    4. Click OK then Close.
    5. Say Yes to blank Administrator password.
