UW Library Web Pages - Technical Issues
When designing new pages for the UW Library Web, the following technical issues should be considered.
- Maintenance Issues:
- the top page and areas such as "What's New" should be reasonable to edit and maintain
- design for secondary pages should include a top navigation bar maintained by a server-side include statement - to conform to the TUG navigation bar scheme
- Browser compatibility
- including use of browser safe colours
- appropriate page width
- javascript
- Suitable load time
- Must adhere to UW Library Standards and Practices and international HTML standards (check via W3C's HTML Validation Service at validator.w3.org)
- Script should validate at a minimum to version 4 HTML standards
- Page should be able to be indexed
- Check effect on logging usage of files
