Minutes of the Meeting of February 13, 2001
2:00 - 4:00 P.M. Porter Conference Room

Marina agreed to serve as facilitator and Esther as recorder for today's meeting
Group Organization
- Facilitator: will be a rotating position (every 6 months) that includes the role of administration as well as facilitating our meetings. Marina agreed to serve as facilitator until the end of June.
- Minutes/Recorder: minutes will be brief, including actions and decisions. The position of recorder will rotate every 6 months. Esther agreed to serve as recorder until the end of June.
- Meetings: Tuesdays 2:00 - 4:00 pm; will meet a minimum of once per month, but oftener as needed. Location will alternate between Porter and Davis.
- Communication: Charles will implement a LibWebOps e-mail alias for the group. Esther will move our web pages into a public area (/staff/webops/)
- Review Terms of Reference: accepted; will review in 6 months.
Listserv for Web Maintainers
Charles will create the webmaint-l listserv to serve as a vehicle of communication for everyone maintaining pages on the main Library Web and the Library Staff Web.

Evaluation of Dreamweaver Training
For our next meeting, Charles will prepare a list of questions to survey the participants of the training sessions to determine if the sessions fulfilled their purpose, to identify gaps, and to determine areas that require further training or explanation.
Dreamweaver 4 is now available. Chris will take a preliminary look at the cost of licenses for Dreamweaver 4. He will investigate what is new and what training issues might arise from this new version.
Web Use Statistics Reports
Bill will investigate possible programs for collecting web statistics. Depending on the results of his investigation, Bill may ask Charles to demo WebTrends (a program he has used to collect statistics) at our next meeting.
Future Agenda Items
- Immediate infrastructure support issues
- policies & procedures (see http://www.lib.uwaterloo.ca/staff/
standards/) including use of server-side include statements, metadata, etc.
- general web standards, e.g., xhtml compatability
- procedures for site-wide maintenance. Esther (in consultation with Charles) will bring a complete copy of the htdocs area to a local site on her computer to determine if any technical issues arise during the transfer.
- Web Use Statistics Software (Bill and perhaps Charles' demo of WebTrends).
