  3. TUG Web issues
The Group's initial discussion revolved around setting out our concerns. Issues we raised included: general direction/principles for shared pages; communication; workflow and dataflow clarification and agreement.

When Mark and Susan joined our discussion at 3:30, they were able to clarify our question regarding the general direction and guiding principles for shared pages. Mark noted that the premier vehicle to TUG shared pages should be through the local web sites. A new splash page is being created that will serve primarily as an information page explaining what TUG is. It will not necessarily include links to the various TUG services. There is no longer a "TUG Web Site." Shared pages do not have to be located on the TUG server if it is more efficient to locate them at the site where the work is being done (e.g., E-journals page) and the navigation bar scheme can still be accommodated.

Included in the guiding principles are to keep things as simple and efficient as possible.

Keeping this in mind, Mark would like us to outline the technical matters raised in George's e-mail, including a review of the navigation bar concept, an encapsulation of our understanding of the guiding principles (local/shared services), and our recommendations on how best to proceed.

Chris will summarize some of the issues he outlined in the meeting and Bill will summarize the navigation bar issues.
