Minutes of the Meeting of June 20, 2001

  1. Approval of minutes from the meeting on June 6, 2001
    Approved as distributed.

  2. Business arising and Agenda review
    From the minutes of June 6:
    3. 404 error page - page still needs to be implemented (Chris)

    5. New web maintenance training - Esther has set up training for the three User Services staff members. She will add our policies regarding training (as outlined in the minutes of June 6) to the "Procedures for New Web Maintainers" page (http://www.lib.uwaterloo.ca/staff/standards/
    process.html) that is part of the Standards & Practices for UW Library Web Pages (http://www.lib.uwaterloo.ca/staff/standards/).

    6. TUG web issues - Chris will edit and send memo to Mark, with a copy to our group.

    7. What's New - updating responsibilities, software, vacation time, etc. - Rose Koebel has agreed to serve as an additional backup. Esther has loaded Fireworks 4 onto Rose's computer and will ask Charles to assign the liboff group to necessary files.

    10. Fixing broken links - Esther's memo was approved. Before sending the memo out at the beginning of July, she will run Linkbot again so as to provide as up-to-date statistics as possible.

  3. Progress Reports
    1. TUG web issues - handled under Business Arising
    2. Use of features in Dreamweaver & application of HTML codes: guiding principles for decisions - deferred to next meeting

  4. Library Web top page design
    Marina reviewed Web Ops participation as outlined in her memo. When Linda is on vacation, Marina will serve as the link between CNAPG and Web Ops.

    Checklist of technical issues: Esther will compile the results of our discussion into an e-mail message to be sent to Web Ops members for further input from our technical experts. The final checklist will be published on our Web page.

    Linda will get copies of the results of the Systems Design class projects for Web Ops members.
     
  5. TRELLIS Telnet Version Link
    Dan Sich sent Web Ops a message notifying us that beginning in August the telnet version of TRELLIS will no longer be available from the TRELLIS page. He requested a link from the home page. On August 13 we will add a link to the Find It area on the homepage (both javascript and text versions) and highlight the change under "What's New?" Esther will update Dan on our discussion.
