Minutes of the Meeting of April 17, 2002

Present: Chris Gray, Linda Hastings, Esther Millar (Recorder), Bill Oldfield, Marina Wan (Facilitator), Charles Woods

  1. Minutes of meeting, April 3, 2002
    Minutes accepted with changes.

  2. Business Arising
    4.3.
    Marina sent a message to Christine Jewell, Jim Parrott, Larry Helfand, and Richard Pinnell regarding the handling of the old IRC files.

    5.6 Marina sent a message to Jesse Rodgers to add LibWebOps to the mailing list for uwweb-creators.

    6. Mark Haslett will raise the TUGWEB issue at this afternoon's meeting with the TUG Librarians.

  3. Agenda Review
    Agenda accepted as distributed.

  4. Agenda & meeting procedures
    The group began reviewing the procedures prepared by Marina.
    • Marina will continue as Facilitator (to be reviewed February 2003)
    • each agenda item has an owner who takes responsibility for the item and leads the discussion. So that the meeting can be used for positive and progressive discussion, the owner refines the topic as best they can before the meeting, clearly delineates any problems, and provides a focus for the discussion.
    • if a "Business Arising" items will extend beyond one sentence, it should be given its own agenda item.
    • agenda items that will require the most energy should be placed early in the agenda, e.g., order for agenda items: new item, review item (when a new situation is known), reports of continuous tasks for projects, general information reports
    • the position of recorder will rotate in ascending alphabetical order by surname with each meeting. The recorder for the next meeting will be Charles.

  5. Progress report on new Library web home page
    Marina was able to report from the last CNAG meeting. CNAG looked at comments from the focus groups and isolated concerns that were noted. They will also review the System Design Engineering class reports that are scheduled to become available at the end of April. Linda is waiting for decisions on the changes that need to be made to her prototype home page. Timeframes for completion are unknown.

  6. Information Literacy Projects in Progress
    This is an information item to let the group know about projects that are in the works.

    Esther will compile vacation schedules of LibWebOps and the staff who are willing to assist in the conversion to the new web format.
