  1. Minutes of meeting, April 17, 2002
    Minutes accepted with changes.

  2. Business Arising
    2.1.
With regards to the handling of the old IRC files, Marina received no responses to her memo. It was to decided that the annual reports will be kept in the private archive area.

2.2 The Tug Chiefs approved Mark Haslett's proprosal with regrards to future TUGWEB development. WebOps began to discuss what implications the memo had for future account-creation and grouping on lap2.uwaterloo.ca. There was some disagreement about the scope; it was agreed that the issue will be put on the agenda of a future WebOps meeting. Esther volunteered to identify the people who need access to lap2 now.

  3. Agenda Review
Item 5, "Arrangement and training of backup for updates on the homepage" was deferred. New agenda items were added:
    • New version of Dreamweaver (Chris)
    • Systems Analyst (Chris)

  4. New Library Web homepage conversion

The group reviewed the document, "Steps to Convert Library WebSite" and made several changes to the document. It was noted that no word had been received from CNAG on a proposed date so the time-schedule is somewhat speculative. Nevertheless WebOps will proceed with tentative plans.

Esther Millar will incorporate the changes into the new document as discussed in the meeting. Charles will set up the www.libtest.uwaterloo.ca site so that the WebOps group can test some of the proposed conversion techniques envisioned in the document. This includes the creation of an htdocs2 area that will become the "live" area for the Library site while the original htdocs area is converted.

  5. New Version of Dreamweaver

Chris reported that there is a new version of Dreamweaver called "Dreamweaver MX" that has several attractive features:

    • it combines the features of UltraDev and the Dreamweaver editor
    • it contains server-side Cold Fusion functionality
    • the several floating windows in Dreamweaver 4 can be combined into one window at the operators discretion.
    • code-editing combines features of UltraDev and Homesite

Other features of Dreamweaver MX can be found at http://www.macromedia.com/software/dreamweaver/ . The beta version is availabe for a time-limited evaluation; costs for the final product are not known at this time.
