No change.
- CSS implementation plan
5 template s have been developed. Users have 4 choices and there is one two column CSS template available. Some special templates may still be needed.
A cleanup step will be added to ensure that all the temporary files are removed after the conversion. Dreamweaver site definitions will have to be watched to ensure successful cleanup.
Maintainers should be reminded to avoid changes that will impact possible user bookmarks.
Esther will send personal linkbot email to maintainers about their orphan files which has been more successful in the past promoting action.
Christy suggested added a step by step demonstration of the steps during the maintainers information
session.
Michael has been installing Dreamweaver MX 2004. Esther will give Michael a new short list of those involved in the CSS conversion project that will need the latest version. A request will be made to install a copy on the Davis Conference room computer for the information sessions.
A comment will be added to ensure that maintainers do not think that they will need to know CSS for this project. Comments have already been received from some maintainers that adding content without worrying about display is much appreciated.
The revised implementation Plan report will be link to the CSS report on the web.
- Tip messages to webmaint-l
It was suggested that WebOps should start a tips emailing.Charles message about files names is a good example. Every 2-3 weeks a tip could be issued. It was suggested that the tips could be saved and places on the web for possible later consultation. Possible brown bag session could be run explaining the tips in more detail.
At the next WebOps meeting there will be a brain-storming session to come up with some tips for the program.
- Around the table
Christy brought up a couple of comments about the templates. There seems to be too much white space below the navbar and before the heading. Some examples with less white space were examined. The conversion to CSS will make these type of changes very easy. In order to keep design out of the CSS conversion project and encourage the move to CSS these suggests will be left until the CSS conversion project is complete. Christy will take the suggestions to ISR.
David received an email from Jesse Rodgers regarding our request to get a copy of the W3C validator running locally. Jesse thought it was a good idea and he will be contacting IST about installing it.
