  1. Minutes of meeting, April 6, 2005
Due to Linda's absence, minutes have not been distributed.
  2. Business Arising
Since the last minutes have not been distributed, we reviewed the agenda to confirm some of the decisions made.
    • XHTML validation statement will not be included in the new CLF format
    • Javascript should not be used in navigation bars, but is acceptable to open/close new windows and in our antispam ssi.
    • Systems has assessed and approved Firefox for WebOps members and a few others who require it.
  3. Agenda Review
    No additional agenda.
  4. Plan for Website Conversion
The group reviewed the "Website Conversion Plan 2005" prepared by Marina and suggested a few changes. ACTION: Marina will update the document at: http://www.lib.uwaterloo.ca/staff/webops/
    conversion2005.html

ACTION: Bill will talk to Charles about setting up a "webmaint" account on Library for Contribute access, so all users do not have to access Contribute via Bill's accont.

The cleanup team referred to in the conversion document consists of Marian, Rose, Marina, John, and Esther.
  5. Library Navigation Bar on TUG and Other Servers
Chris & Bill are looking at solutions for incorporating the Library brand into the TUG pages. Chris will write a script to find what files we link to at tug.lib.uwaterloo.ca.
We also noted that the joint TUG web site needs attention. Marina will let Mark know about our concerns re: incorrect links, broken links, etc.
    ACTIONS: Bill, Chris, Marina

If we aren't able to find an immediate solution to adding the new CLF to the TUG pages, as a temporary measure we will just use the top of the new CLF page.
  6. Around the Table
Bill noted that we should present an overview or introduction to the new Common Look and Feel to staff before it goes live. LibWebReview will discuss arrangements at our next meeting. (Possibilites discussed were sessions on June 21 and 22, one in each of Porter & Davis.)

Bill noted that since server difficulties are still occuring, there could be intermitent problems with database services.
