  1. Minutes of meeting, September 7, 2005
Minutes were approved with minor corrections.

  2. Busines Arising
    September 7 meeting of WebOps

#4 Since this is a busy time, we will plan to hold the info session in November. Let Marina know of items to be covered.

#10 Marian has agreed to set up a site for free graphic resources.

September 13 meeting of Library Home Page Review
    No business arising.

  3. Agenda Review
    No additions.

  4. Content Management Discussions
We have not yet received a response to the November 24, 2003 report on Content Management submitted to the Library Administration. Bill prepared a comprehensive report showing how Contribute has brought us closer to a CMS. Chris prepared an excellent synopsis showing where we are still lagging behind. We recognize that we have still not realized a true Content Management System.

ACTION: Marina will write to the Library Executive on behalf of WebOps and recommend that the next steps set out in the 2003 report again be considered by both the Library and campus-wide.

  5. Library and Staff Web Template Change
Bill and Chris have experimented with the templates to determine that the style sheet info can also be incorporated into an ssi. The main web site templates will be updated to include this new ssi the next time a change is required.

Since most Staff Web files have not yet been converted, we will incorporate the style ssi into the staff web template.

ACTION: Bill will set this up.

  6. Dreamweaver 8
Jesse reports that Dreamweaver 8 is a solid program with many advantages. Bill, Charles, Chris, and Esther will run an evaluation copy on their systems for the next month.

ACTION: Charles will arrange to have a copy loaded onto Esther's computer.

  7. Google Scholar
Kevin Manuel (Porter ISR Co-op) is working together with Helena to prepare a report on searching with Google Scholar.

Bill has been looking at what is involved in setting up a Resolver file to get Google Scholar to index our databases. There's a question whether a cost will be associated with using WorldCat.

Bill and Kevin will collaborate on this issue.

  8. Branch Library Home Pages
Some concern has been expressed for the need for a separate template for branch libraries. Marina will meet with Richard Pinnell to find out what the concerns are.

  9. Around the Table
Charles attended IST's Contribute Administration course and can now serve as backup if Bill and Esther are both away.
