  4. Game-based Learning Presentation

In December, Christy attended the Games, Learning, and Libraries Symposium held in Chicago. Christy presented her Symposium presentation to WebOps called "Bibliographic Gaming: Game-based Learning and Library Instruction".

  5. ISR Wiki

Chris has set up various wikis for experimentation. The different wiki flavours were discussed. Chris mentioned that he hesitates to use MediaWiki because of the complexity involved in using it. Also, MediaWiki does not make the best use of RSS. Chris also demoed TWiki and WikiWikiWeb - the first existing wiki. Twiki is already being supported on campus and has integrates well with email.  Discussion ensued and the group decided to go with MediaWiki for now due largely to aesthetics and familiarity with the look of Wikipedia.
ACTION: Chris will craft and send out a message to ISR staff inviting them to experiment with the wiki.
  6. RSS feed

Marina reported that Dreamweaver is capable of producing xml. Chris explained that there are tools to create RSS, but there is still a different procedure involved in creating web pages than we are currently used to, and so there is additional work required for setting up pages with RSS. Esther has been using an external form to create the xml code that is quite easy to use and straight forward. Bill reported that he is working on an RSS feed for the E-journals pages. It was agreed that this discussion should continue at a future meeting.
  7. Integration Strategies

    This item was deferred.
  8. Other Web 2.0/Library 2.0 issues

    This item was deferred.
  9. Around the Table

Bill reported that he has been working on a government information database. Esther reported that the conversion of the staff web is almost finished. ACTION: Charles will create a library test site.
