No new items were added.
- New Beta features of Google Analytics
Charles demonstrated the custom reporting and advanced segments features of Google Analytics.
He suggested these would be useful for ISR librarians and offered to demonstrate them at a future ISR
meeting. Charles also demonstrated the availability of many GA training videos on YouTube.
-
LibX
Bill led a discussion on making LibX public. Because the IE version cannot be updated
automatically on public machines in the Library, changes can only be made effieicntly
when workstation images are updated. Similarly because administrative access is required
to install the IE version, staff cannot install it on their machines without assistence. Action: Allan, Bill and Chris will meet to discuss what LibX capabilities we want to show people and to update the LibX page accordingly.
Action: Nancy and Bill will meet to discuss advertising and promotion.
-
Around the Table
- Chris reported that the campus group studying web content management systems is nearing a point of running some evaluations of the three top-runners. Participating teams would investigate setting up small sites to look at design, templates, editing, and administration. The library might be one of the participants.
- Esther and Nancy are developing a contest similar to last year's "love your library" video contest. The new competition will start on Feb. 9 and again feature a special home page banner.
- Nancy is working on ideas for the lower right-hand box on the home page. So far in the lineup are: currently - top 5 tips, next -the contest, then perhaps Davis zoning.
- Charles noted that Primo tags and reviews capabilities are now live and everyone is encouraged to try these features out.
He also pointed to some recent Google Analytics statistics indicating that use of Firefox had now surpassed that of IE among those accessing the library's home page.
- Allan reported that the library part of the IT review went well.
- Bill reported that the Ontario German Bibliography is almost ready for public release.
7. Next Meeting: Feb. 11, 2009 at 2:00 pm in LIB 428. recorder Bill.
