    Approved with minor changes.

    8. Sharepoint (Marian)
    9. OCUL RefWorks Survey (Tim)
    10. Thunder & Lightning Information Sessions (Charles)
    11. Report a Problem (Doug)

  4. Primo Search from Home Page (Bill)
    1. We need to provide Primo with information, such as what we need to move forward with the change from Trellis to Primo based on the test site.
    2. We need to discuss moving the search functionality on the home page to Primo, noting the variable names vary amongst insitutitons.
    3. We need to decide if we want to search at a local level.
ACTION: Bill will make the change to open up the TUG holdings and send the URL to the group to review.

Esther pointed to the Musagetes and Optometry web sites, specifically their home pages, which contain code that needs updating.

Discussion ensued regarding the flexibility about the start search and the question of clarification between the view and the content database.

  5. Online Subject Guides (Nancy)
Nancy provided an update on the group’s activity -- there is no activity. Kathy Szigeti made the group aware of a subject guide tool called LibGuides, which has very positive reviews. It is easy to use, easy to migrate information, etc.

Kathy is interested in moving forward with this idea and as a result, got us thinking again about the project, which desparately needs a leader. This is a worthwhile project and the subject guide tool should be reviewed seriously.

The cost for this product is in the $800.00 – $3,000.00 range. Charles requested more information.
ACTION: Nancy will give a 30 minute demonstration in the near future.

  6. Connect from Home – Cache Related Problem (Marian)
Marian reported where the help text for this problem is located on the web site.

  7. Eva Dodsworth's request for Mark to access the library web server to work with Google Map API’s (Esther)
Esther spoke to Mark and what he needs is a test area and to identify scripting language. He doesn’t need to apply templates as such. The file size is a question that needs to be determined, along with working with files that already exist and making sure he knows the right folder structure.
ACTION: Charles or Chris will follow up.

  8. Sharepoint (Marian)
Marian reported on a Sharepoint session given by IST staff Bob Hicks and Stephen Markan. The session raised many questions in terms of Sharepoint's use in the Library.
    ACTION: Charles will follow up.

  9. Survey (Tim)
Tim reported on the OCUL RefWorks Survey and requested we add a link to it from the home page. ACTION: Add link.

  10. Thunder & Lightning Sessions (Charles)
Charles reported on the popular thunder sessions (10 minute) and the lightning (5 minute sessions) at the Access Conference. These were high energy and well focused sessions.
Charles suggested for future planning that one or two topics, for example, web searching, bing, wolfram alpha, digital humanites, could be conducted in much the same way.
ACTION: When an agenda call goes out, a member will volunteer to give a thunder or a lightning session.

  11. Report a Problem (Doug)
Doug received a request from a staff member to have a more prominent feature on the web site to report problems. As there are a variety of ways to report problems the group decided to note this issue for future consideration.

  12. Around the Table
Esther will not create a separate vacation schedule for WebOp members. WebOps is Esther’s backup during her vacation, July 13 - 24 , Aug 10 -28.

Alison sent a email about the movement to get a target from SFX to Primo.

Charles mentioned the closed feature for comments on articles in the Globe & Mail.

Tim announced that he and Nancy would like to add an LibX session to the library instruction (LINC) sessions.

Bill announced that he is working on a plan to move from cold fusion to php.

  13. Next Meeting: July 15 , 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Davis Conference Room. (Recorder Chris)
