  1. Approval of WebOps Minutes of August 26, 2009
    Approved with minor changes.

  2. Business Arising
    3. - 2.2 #4. Media Server: Allan has contacted Koorus Bookan; Koorus will speak with Andrea Chappell and then update Allan on how things are proceeding with the project.
3.2#5. LibX (Primo functionality beyond keyword search): Bill is still waiting for a response from Virginia.
4.UNYTE: Tim had nothing new to report on UNYTE. He noted that the free version does not let you control what you are sharing. Campus is looking at Adobe Connect which may work for this. The issue needs to go to CROG for investigation.

  3. Agenda Review
    Agenda accepted as distributed.

  4. Primo
    1. Update
Alison joined WebOps and noted some of the problems the Primo Group is working on:
      • still linking library account to TRELLIS Library Account because of several problems with ExLibris relating to library accounts
      • some people are still having problems getting to the Primo page; Helena found if she does Connect from Home first, then she can get into Primo
      • most comments coming in from library staff; they are hoping to receive public comments
      • Wednesday morning boots do not cause shaking hands to work all the time, so this is being monitored
      • some problems the Primo Group is able to fix; others need to be sent to ExLibris
      • they are looking for a central place to store the list of commeit before reporting problems
      • if Primo begins to run slowly, let Systems know and they’ll restart the front end
      • still looking at out of copyright material; public domain e-books; keyword searching for journal articles; content sources that could not have been part of Trellis
    2. SFX Link Resolver
Targets are now working; people can go to TRELLIS or Primo.
Action: Doug will turn both TRELLIS and Primo options on tomorrow morning.
Linda Day is looking into something that will help put all SFX entries into Primo.
    3. Website links
Wayne Johnston (UG) was looking for a URL generator for persistent links, but there are problems with deduplicated records. The new strategy is to show maintainers how to convert TRELLIS links to Primo links. This is not a top priority since TRELLIS links are working.
    4. UWLibX
Currently points to keyword search only. The ability to search author, title, etc. is currently under development.
    5. Libtest
Re: Primo search widget. Bill will rearrange the search boxes on libtest for WebOps evaluation. He will also ensure that all options available on Primo are available from the search widgit.

  5. Connect from Home
Re: problem report received regarding insecure forms. Charles noted that the forms are not Secure Shell enabled, but there were valid reasons why this was not done at the time.
ACTION: Charles will ask Adrian to look into applications to see whether pertinent forms can be made secure.

  6. Undergraduate Theses Repository
The Sociology Department is willing to move forward on an undergraduage theses repository giving undergrads the opportunity to become familiar with undergrad theses. The Psychology Department is also tentatively interested. UML is collecting geography theses, but in fiche. UWSpace would be a possible venue for this.
Action: Tim will complete the Programming and Web Project Proposal form and submit it to Mark Haslett.

  7. Content Management System (CMS) & Web Redesign
The CMS project is progressing: the mandate has been finalized; membership is being determined; currently led by Eva Grabinski.
The Web Redesign project is currently being led by Megan McDermott, but as Megan departs shortly on maternity leave, an RFP will be issued to select a consultant to oversee the project and assist our staff in completing the redesign. Sarah Forgrave will take over the position as Manager, Web communications. What are our next steps? What do we want to do with our site? We will take these questions to a broader group. New template coming in January.

  8. Webmaint-l
Esther commented on the volume of spam coming through the Webmaint-l listserv.
Action: Charles and Esther will discuss how to solve.

  9. Around the Table
    • Nancy reported that since ISR had not had a joint meeting, she and Kathy did mini Libguides updates at the regular meetings. Presentation and discussion should occur at the next joint meeting. Annie and Jennifer will be taking it forward from now on.
    • Tim will be leaving our meetings early from now on due to other responsibilities.

  10. Next Meeting: October 21, Porter 428
