Wish liked our solution. Esther has created the button (Search as guest).
ACTION: Chris will apply the login form and button to the current RACER page.

  4. Waterloo Web Phasing Plan - Library Implementation
Esther has been applying the new protoocol to the test site at: www.libtest.uwaterloo.ca/ .
    - to implement will require over 100 files to be edited in some way (editing css & templates, resizing banners, replacing code with ssi's, etc.)
    - some questions on how to handle cross-unit pages (e.g., Academic Integrity Tutorial, etc.) have been referred to Sarah Forgrave who is working with Creative Services for recommendations
    - printing has not been addressed in the phasing plan. Esther has forwarded this concern to Sarah as well.
    - Esther will be attending an open session on "Understanding and Applying the University of Waterloo Web Phasing Protocol" on Monday, January 31.

Annie reviewed a timeline she put together for Web Redesign beginning with the phased protocol in February. Clarification was made that this does not include the library staff web site or sites such as Scholarly Societies and Wellington Waterloo Dufferin Library Health Network. [It is now available on the WebOps Sharepoint site with Annie's revisions/additions from today's meeting.]

When asked if the timeline is realistic a comment on how vacations may impact this was raised and the concern noted that we will not be able to take advantage of skills being developed across campus.

Decision: implementation of the phased header will take place the week of February 14.
ACTION: Annie will send out the proposal to LibExec on Tuesday and then to Managers. Messages to content developers will follow on February 7 and to all library staff around February 14..

  5. Subject Guides and Search
The library search is not recognizing files from subjectguides.uwaterloo.ca.
ACTION: Chris will look into getting the subject guides included in the library Google search.
ACTION: Adrian will check into changing the http 404's generated for discipline pages that have been deleted into http 301 moved permanently.

  6. Competencies & Skills
The extensive list of skills recorded on spreadsheet was the result of a brainstorming session. We acknowledged that the lead for some skills may reside outside our group or the library, and that some filtering/removal will occur.
ACTION: ALL. Annie will update the spreadsheet. All group members will enter their areas of expertise and skills.

Further discussion will resume at the next meeting.

  7. Options & Opportunities Proposals
    Deferred to the next meeting.

  8. Around the Table
    No around the table items.
