Subject: Assessing UW Library Web Statistics Needs

The UW Library's Web Operational Management Group has been asked to consider how best to gather and provide Web use statistics. There are many feasible ways of doing this but none is cost-free, especially considering the time and effort to be spent in setting up and maintaining a solution. The group feels the need for guidance in making a reasonable choice and not expending or wasting effort by collecting the wrong information in an unhelpful form.

The WebOps group is asking you to give us a description of the kinds of Web statistics you need or foresee a need for. We would also like to know if you are interested in participating in further discussion to help clarify the UW Library's need for Web statistics. Much of this discussion may take place via email, but there is likely to be a need for some face-to-face meetings.
