Doug's CribSheets - Table of Contents

Doug's Cribs started as a collection of handwritten cribsheets for personal use, progressed to a paper form a little tidier and are now electronic. Some are true cribsheets, generated by yours truly, others are blatant copies of man pages (Unix online manual pages) or help screens. These notes continue to be informal cribsheets but are now easier to share. They come with no warranty other than my apologies if there are mistakes. If you do find an error please let me know (I'll send you a free replacement). Another caveat - check the date at the page bottom, I haven't always had a chance to update some of these.

I like paper copies because I can then refer to the cribsheets at the same time as something is on the screen. Anyone wanting a paper copy is free to print these off but please acknowledge sources if you distribute them. You can also ask me for a copy of one of my originals but I make no promises on turnaround time, or that it will look the same.

Why do them? Even when there are good manuals in existence I find that doing a cribsheet is the best way to familiarize myself with something. If you want to make your own you may want to start with the template - when you can fill in all of the boxes you have a pretty good idea of the tools available to you. The next question is often "WHY THESE ONES????" Mostly because they don't seem to be answered elsewhere. Some are my answers to FAQs.
